Congratulations Municipality of Santa Barbara!

HALL OF FAME AWARDEE 2014 Department of Tourism - Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (DOT-ATOP) Pearl Awards for Kahilwayan Festival as Best Tourism Event of the Country - Culture and Arts Category (Municipal Level) for three consecutive years (2011, 2012, 2013).

The Hall of Fame Trophy was given during the 15th ATOP National Convention at Bacolod City, Province of Negros Occidental on October 2-4, 2014.

Congratulations to all the participants, supporters, organizers, coordinators, choreographers, Santa Barbara LGU Municipal officials and employees, Santa Barbara teachers and students, Santa Barbara Tourism Council and to all Santa Barbaranhons who helped us achieve this award! Kudos sa aton tanan!

Congratulations Roilo Diaz Alojado,2014 Bagong Bayani Awardee

Congratulations Roilo Diaz Alojado 2014 Bagong Bayani Awardee- Culture and the Arts Individual Category. He is from Barangay Talanghauan, Santa Barbara,Iloilo, Legal Administrative Assistant of Hassan A. Karim Algahtani Sons Co. for Trading and Contracting, Dhahran Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Alojado won the 2014 Bagong Bayani Award for the assistance he had extended to Filipinos abroad. He served in different Filipino cultural organizations in Easter Region of Saudi Arabia in various capacities. He is the founder of the "Awit Sayaw Cultural Group" that performs regularly for the Filipino communities, President of Saudi Arabia Hiligaynon Inc. and overall Chairman of the All Filipino Community and Sports Commission-Eastern region, the umbrella organization of professional, civic, cultural and regional organizations and educational institutions. Aside from his community projects, Alojado also spearheaded fund raising campaigns for calamity victims in the Philippines, the latest of which is for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

116th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Santa Barbara

June 12, 2014 - Santa Barbaranhons join the rest of the nation in celebrating the 116th Philippine Independence Day, the nation's independence from the Spanish rule on June 12, 1898. Filipinos celebrate it annually...In Santa Barbara, Local Philippine National Police led in hoisting one of theĀ  country's biggest Philippine flag measuring 30x60 feet atop a 120 feet flag pole while Hon. Governor Arthur D. Defensor, Sr.,Hon Mayor Dennis S. Superficial, M.D.,National, Provincial andĀ  Santa Barbara Municipal Officials joined the rest of Santa Barbaranhons, visitors and guests in the flag raising ceremony; the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and "Santa Barbara Bugal kag Palangga Ko" municipal hymn, as well as the "Panunumpa sa Watawat". Earlier, the independence day celebration started with the Live Coverage of the Santa Barbaranhons traditions, cultures and talents by the GMA TV6 Arangkada Iloilo, simultaneously with the community mass.

Area II Congressional Jamborette @ Sta.Barbara Eco-Adventure Park

March 21-23, 2014 - The 2014 1st Area II Congressional Jamborette hosted by the historic town Santa Barbara kicked off on March 21 with a grand parade participated by the Boy Scout contingents from the municipalities comprising the Second District of the Province of Iloilo.
